The sebaceous gland of our skin produces sebum to help our skin stay hydrated and healthy. However, sebaceous glad does not always get the balance right; sometimes the balance is also affected by genetics, environmental and lifestyle factors.
Here are some of our favourite ingredients to help you combat oily or shiny skin:
Niacinamide can improve excess sebum production, the appearance of pores and fine lines. The magical thing about Niacinamide is that it also prevents water loss from the skin, limiting dryness and irritation. Check out The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum.
Glycolic Acid + Salicylic Acid
Glycolic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid that acts as a chemical exfoliant. It reduces pore size, hence it improves the oiliness of the skin.
Salicylic Acid, a Beta Hydroxy Acid, works both on the skin surface and deep in the pores. It unclogs the pores and normalises the lining of the pores to reduce excessive sebum production.
